Zebra Plant
The Zebra Plant (Aphelandra squarrosa) is known for its dramatic, glossy dark green leaves with bold white veins, giving it a striking, zebra-like appearance. This tropical plant, native to Brazil, adds a unique and eye-catching touch to any indoor space, and it occasionally produces bright yellow flower bracts, making it a standout in any plant collection. Care Instructions:
- Light: Prefers bright indirect light; avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.
- Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. It will need watered about every two days in the right conditions.
- Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 65°F and 80°F; avoid cold drafts.
- Humidity: Requires high humidity; mist regularly or place near a humidifier to keep the leaves healthy.
- Fertilizer: Feed every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer.
- Soil: Look for soil specific to houseplants that drains well but retains moisture.
- Pets: Keep away from pets.
